My primary responsibility in Congress is to represent the people of Southwest Louisiana. The Seventh Congressional District has many different needs and concerns, and I am committed working for all my constituents.  Here is where I stand on the issues facing us today.

 

Agriculture
It has been an honor to fight for the needs of the farmers and ranchers in Southwest Louisiana since coming to Congress.  I remain committed to our agriculture community and will continue to look for ways to strengthen our rural economy.  > MORE
 
Coastal Restoration
Over 15,000 acres of Louisiana are lost each year to coastal erosion.  In fact, Louisiana has 30% of all the coastal marsh in the contiguous 48 states, but currently accounts for 90% of all coastal marsh losses, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).  > MORE
 
Education
Education is one of the most valuable gifts we can give our children. I am dedicated to ensuring that we give our children the best education possible.  > MORE
 
Energy
I am committed to enacting balanced and responsible energy legislation that is in the best interest of the 7th District.  > MORE 
 
Health Care
As a physician who has cared for thousands of uninsured patients and families in Louisiana, I believe Congress must do more to expand access to affordable health-insurance coverage.  > MORE 
 
Louisiana Values
Most Americans disagree with the position that abortion should remain available “for any reason.”  > MORE
 
Seniors
Social Security has helped to lift millions of seniors out of poverty, while Medicare has improved their access to life-saving treatments.  > MORE
 
Small Business
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but they are too often overburdened by excessive regulation and taxation.  > MORE
 
Taxes
Taxes are too high.  I support fundamental tax reform that will provide a fairer and simpler system and that will keep taxes at a reasonable rate.  > MORE 
 
Trade
There is not doubt that when negotiated and implemented correctly, free trade agreements (FTAs) help to improve the economic conditions at home and abroad.  > MORE
 
Transportation & Infrastructure
The Seventh District of Louisiana has great transportation needs, and I am glad to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to help address those needs.  > MORE
