About Randy

Randy Neugebauer represents the 19th District of Texas, which stretches across 27 counties and includes the cities of Abilene, Big Spring, and Lubbock.  He is now in his third term in U.S. House of Representatives after first taking office on June 5, 2003.

Randy serves on the House Committees on Agriculture, Financial Services, and Science and Technology.  Through his seats on these committees, he is able to craft policy that supports the district’s diverse interests, including local agriculture, financial institutions and energy providers.

Randy’s hard work during his time in Congress has helped him earn valuable leadership positions on his committees.  He is the highest ranking Republican on the Agriculture Subcommittee for Horticulture and Organic Agriculture.  Randy also serves on the Agriculture Subcommittee whose jurisdiction includes cotton, cottonseed, wheat, sorghum, and crop insurance.  On the Financial Services Committee, he serves as the Deputy Ranking Republican.  In addition, he has been tapped to serve on the House Republican Policy Committee, a group of lawmakers that focuses on important issues ranging from tax reform to national security.

While in Congress, Randy has developed a track record of promoting fiscal discipline, backing a strong national defense, and fighting for traditional Texas values.  Randy’s legislative initiatives include eliminating wasteful federal spending, improving crop insurance, and developing renewable energy sources.

Randy brings years of experience in the business world to his work in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Prior to his service in Congress, Randy ran his own small business, which focused on residential home building and commercial real estate development.

In addition to running a successful business, Randy was also elected to the Lubbock City Council, serving as Mayor Pro Tempore from 1994 to 1996.  He was at the forefront of the establishment of the Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor Coalition, whose goal is to enhance regional economic development.  Other professional accomplishments include serving as the president of both the West Texas Home Builders and the Texas Association of Builders.

Randy graduated from Lubbock’s Coronado High School and later attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 1972 with a BBA in accounting.  Randy is married to his high school sweetheart, Dana, who is a Ropesville native.  Together they have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandsons.
