Services Resources for Military Families Military
personnel and their families are facing the unknown as units
are called up and deployed overseas or to bases within the
United States. My office is in contact with the National Guard
and Reserve commands here in Wisconsin to make sure that troops
and the needs of their families receive every consideration
possible from the federal government.
Wisconsin National Guard
The Wisconsin
National Guard is maintaining a Family Program Office
which will coordinate Family Assistance Centers [FACs]. Two
of these are currently located in Madison and Chippewa Falls.
The Family Program is established to field questions or concerns
that may come up while military personnel are away. I understand
that the phone line will be staffed by live operators as close
to around-the-clock as possible. The Guard assures me that
it stands ready to answer questions and provide information
to all DOD dependents (active and reserve components, new
accessions, evacuees from overseas commands, retirees and
other services) on issues ranging from home repairs to Tri-Care
benefits to housing issues.
