I have posted this privacy statement in order to demonstrate my firm commitment to protecting your privacy. Please be aware that the privacy policy of the United States Senate Website, which hosts this page, also applies to my pages. This policy governs the Internet or Web information gathering and dissemination practices of my office. I observe this policy voluntarily. I am a cosponsor of legislation to protect the privacy of all visitors to commercial websites in the United States.

I believe that the preservation of my visitors right to privacy is a solemn responsibility of my office. The purpose of this site is to better serve the citizens of Wisconsin and the United States by ensuring clear and continuous communication. Any information I receive on this site will be used by my office to reply to your questions or comments and to better understand your concerns. Such information will be used for properly authorized or official government purposes only, and will not be used, sold, or offered for any commercial purpose.

My site is stored on the United States Senate server. For site management, the United States Senate Web Site collects information for statistical purposes. This government computer system uses software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, the United States Senate computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic and identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

The Information We Collect

My web site provides several online forms (e.g. Contact Senator Feingold) to better serve the needs of my visitors. The information voluntarily provided by visitors and collected on this page (name, address, and message) is used to verify your residency and send a reply to you via U.S. Mail. If you are concerned about the security of transmitting information to my office over the Internet, please contact my office through the U.S. Mail at 506 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington D.C. 20510.

My web pages do not use “cookies” to track your visits. Cookies are small pieces of information a website stores on a visitors' browser to identify the user the next time they visit the site.

How We Use the Information

My office tabulates the number of constituent comments I receive on many issues. Your comments may be quoted in speeches, inserted into the Congressional Record, shared with relevant federal agencies or otherwise used in debate before the United States Senate. However, your name or personal identity will never be used for such purposes without your direct authorization. I will share with appropriate law enforcement officials any submission that constitutes a physical or otherwise illegal threat or is otherwise harassing.
