MCCAIN STATEMENT ON NOMINATION OF MARY PETERS TO LEAD DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) issued the following statement regarding the nomination of Mary Peters to become Secretary of Transportation:
"I am very pleased that the President has nominated Mary Peters to serve as our nation's 15th Secretary of Transportation. If confirmed, Mary will bring a wealth of experience to the Department of Transportation, having served for almost four years as the Federal Highway Administrator, and before then for over 15 years with Arizona's Department of Transportation, which she led for several years. I have every confidence that, if confirmed, this fourth generation Arizonan will contribute greatly to improving safety, security and mobility throughout our nation’s transportation system."
