Civilian and Military to See 3.9% Pay Raise

  Pay Parity and Salary Increase in Continuing Resolution Passed by the House
 

Washington, D.C., September 24, 2008 - Congressman Jim Moran, Northern Virginia Democrat, announced today that the just passed Continuing Resolution included a pay raise for federal employees and military personnel of 3.9%.

“In keeping with the tradition of pay parity, the House has provided a 3.9 percent pay raise for all federal and military personnel,” said Moran. “In these difficult economic times, when inflation is rising, it is important to provide for our military and federal workforce families.”    

The legislation including the pay raise, H.R. 2638 – Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act of 2009 was passed on a 378-58 vote. The Senate is expected to pass the bill, sending it to the White House before the end of the week.
