January
10, 2007 Senators Russ Feingold and Thad Cochran (R-MS)
have introduced legislation to require electronic disclosure
of Senate campaign finance reports. Currently, political parties,
political action committees, Presidential candidates and candidates
for the House of Representatives are required to file Federal
Election Commission finance reports electronically. Only the
Senate has a special exception to this requirement. This legislation
will allow the public to quickly and easily access information
about contributors to Senate campaigns in the weeks leading
up to an election.
