Alexander, Corker Statements on Retirement of Chief Justice William M. Barker
 
April 30th, 2008 - U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Bob Corker (R-TN) today made the following statements on the decision of William M. Barker, chief justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court, to retire effective on September 1, 2008.

“As governor, I appointed Justice Barker as circuit judge over twenty-five years ago, and I have been proud of his service ever since,” Alexander said.

“As a fellow Chattanoogan and personal friend, I thank Justice Barker for his dedicated service to Tennesseans these past 25 years. Tennessee is a better place because of his service, and he has set a high bar for all of us in the public arena.” Corker said. “Elizabeth and I extend our best wishes to Justice Barker and his family as he enters retirement.”
