Murray
offers 'pragmatic' approach to immigration
Border patrols should be beefed up to keep out illegal aliens, but
those already in the United States should be allowed to stay if they
pay a fine and take steps to become U.S. citizens, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray
said Thursday.
"The Washington economy right now depends on a high factor of
immigrant workers, and if we just simply deport everyone unless they
can prove they came here legally, we will have a huge impact on our
Washington state economy," said Murray, D-Wash.
