Senate Judiciary Committee Reports

The Senate Committee on the Judiciary sometimes publishes reports to accompany legislation that they have reported to the Senate Floor.  These reports are numbered consecutively in the order in which they are filed in the Senate.  Committee reports discuss and explain the purpose of proposed legislation, outline the Committee's consideration of the bill, and contain other related information.

The reports published by the Judiciary Committee help explain complex issues, and inform the public as well as other Senators about complicated legislative proposals.  These reports not only explain the core elements of bills, but they also often times outline cost estimates, the impact of legislative proposals on existing federal laws and regulations, and the opinions of Committee members.

Reports constitute an important part of the legislative process, and allow for greater government transparency.
