This program is designed to enrich your academic experience with direct participation in the legislative process and public service.

Washington interns will have the chance to observe the operations of the United States Senate and its interaction with the House of Representatives and the executive branch of the federal government. While D.C. interns will witness first-hand the workings of our nation's capitol, our Little Rock office provides another perspective - how elected officials can help constituents resolve problems with the federal government, and the connection between legislative activities and events back home.

Typical intern duties include a wide range of tasks. Interns in both offices will complete administrative tasks such as opening and distributing mail, answering phones, and data entry. In Washington, DC, legislative duties could include attending committee hearings, tracking legislation, drafting press releases and attending meetings with constituents and interest groups. Duties in Little Rock could include problem solving for constituents with casework questions, attending meetings with outreach staff, and researching grant proposals.

Applicants to Senator Pryor's intern program must have completed their sophomore year of college. The typical successful applicant will have strong writing and research skills, good verbal communication skills, the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, and enthusiasm.

Internships are available during the summer, fall, or spring semesters. Actual dates for the program vary based on the Senate's schedule. All materials must be received by August 1st for a Fall internship; December 22nd for a Spring internship; and February 13th for a Summer internship.
