Casework is when my office works to solve a problem or a concern that an individual has with a federal agency. Examples of casework include problems obtaining a green card, receiving Social Security disability payments, or locating missing veterans' medals.

My staff works with a variety of federal agencies to help constituents interact with the government. Sometimes that means telling a constituent where to start. Other times the constituent may have already gone through the proper channels and encountered a bureaucratic roadblock. Most agencies have application or appeal procedures for programs our government has to offer. Sometimes my office is in a unique position to advocate for citizens. I am prohibited from giving legal advice, however, or trying to circumvent prescribed rules in any way.

Different levels of government are responsible for different problems. If my office can't help you with a particular issue, my staff will do its best to educate you about what unit of government you need to work with.

How My Office Can Help

The Privacy Act of 1974 (Public Law 93-579) prevents agencies from releasing information about you to anyone without your written permission. Therefore, we will need your written signature on this waiver before we can intervene with a federal agency on your behalf. If you have a printer, print this form out, complete it, sign it, and mail it to my nearest state office. If you do not have a printer, you may request a Privacy Act Release Form from any of my offices listed above.
