Yarmuth Opens South End Office

(Louisville, KY) Dozens showed up despite the 100 degree heat last week to mark the opening of Congressman John Yarmuth’s new South End Congressional office on August 20th.

“For too long, the South End has been underserved,” Yarmuth said in his remarks to the crowd.  “I take great pride in what’s happening in this part of the city, and we’re very proud of the working men and women who are raising families here.  I hope that this office will make it easy for you to keep in touch with me and take advantage of the services my office has to offer.”  He outlined those services, which included navigating federal agencies, pursuing grants, obtaining passports, or a host of other federal services.

To help cut the ribbon on the new office and join in the festivities were Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, State Senator Perry Clark (37), State Representative Joni Jenkins (44), and Metro Council President Rick Blackwell (12).

“I’m so pleased to help Congressman Yarmuth open his second Louisville office,” Mayor Abramson said, “This new location in the South End of our city will allow more citizens to more easily reach their elected representative.  That shows Congressman Yarmuth’s commitment to meeting the needs of all the people of Louisville.”

“John is more than a friend of mine, he’s proven he’s a true friend of South End working folks, and we sure appreciate him fighting for us up there in Washington,” Senator Clark told the crowd.

Representative Jenkins welcomed Yarmuth to his new South End home, saying, “We haven’t had a Congressional presence here in more than a decade.  But I’m happy to say that my friend John is the one who reached out to us.”

After more than a decade Congressional of absence in the area Representative Jenkins welcomed Yarmuth, who is in his first year in Congress, to his new South End home, declaring, “it’s about time!”

Council President Blackwell thanked Yarmuth “for bringing government to the people of southwest Jefferson County.”
