The Internet has brought forth great learning experiences for our children in ways we never could have imagined when we were growing up. However, these same new tools also carry dangers for your children surfing the net. According to a recent study by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, approximately one in every seven youth between the ages of 10 and 17 is sexually solicited over the Internet.

As a parent, I am extremely concerned about these dangers to children and in Congress I am working to provide parents and law enforcement officials with the tools they need to protect our kids and prosecute those who use the web to do them harm.

Rep. Gillibrand and Saratoga DA Jim Murphy hold Town Hall on Internet Safety

This page is designed to provide parents and teachers with the resources and information needed to keep our families safe. Here you will find helpful tips, resources, links and other information to prevent online child exploitation.

Online Safety Tip:
Many Internet service providers (ISPs) offer filters to prevent kids from accessing inappropriate sites. Talk to your ISP about what safe-search options they offer. Source: National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
