Washington, Jun 4 - Today Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) introduced a House resolution expressing sympathy and support for the victims of the devastating May 25th tornado that affected communities in Butler, Black Hawk, Buchanan, and Delaware counties. 

"As the process of recovering from this disaster continues, it's important that the people impacted by last Sunday's devastating tornado know that Iowans and Americans are here to support them," Braley said.  "It's a small gesture, but the strength and resolve of these Iowans in the face of such a terrible catastrophe deserves recognition.

"Residents of the communities recovering from the tornado also should know that my Iowa staff are available to answer questions about federal disaster aid and to help in other ways.  My staff is holding office hours each week in communities affected by the storm through the end of June."

Braley's resolution honors the "faith, courage, and determination" of the residents and communities impacted by the disaster.  Reps. Latham, Boswell, King, and Loebsack are all cosponsors of the resolution.

Braley will also request a moment of silence on the House floor today in honor of the 8 Iowans who died as a result of the tornado.
