Senior Policy Advisor
Katie Ahearn is a Senior Policy Advisor working on an array of social
policy issues. Specifically, her areas of focus include education, civil rights,
poverty, and criminal justice. She received her B.S. from Texas A&M University and her J.D. from Boston College Law School.
Office Manager
Ed is responsible for keeping the office up and running at all times. He is the first point of contact between constituents and the office’s staff—that being via mail, phone or office visits. Ed started working for Senator Kerry as an intern while earning a B.A. from Boston University.
Massachusetts Scheduler and Assistant to the State Director
Meaghan serves as both Senator Kerry's Massachusetts State Scheduler and as Assistant to the State Director. She began her tenure with Senator Kerry as an intern in both his Washington, DC and Boston offices. Meaghan grew up in Foxboro and is a graduate of Bridgewater State College, where she received her B.A. in Political Science.
Policy Advisor
Tippi grew up in Wellesley and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees
from Florida State University and Northeastern University respectively. She
has worked in the Boston office for two years in various capacities and now
handles such issues as Social Security, IRS, Housing, Transportation, Telecom,
and Homeland Security.
Policy Advisor
Originally from Southern New Hampshire, Meghan serves as a Policy Advisor on a variety of social and small business-related issues. Specifically, her areas of work include women�s health, poverty, community development, fuel assistance, disability and discrimination. In addition, Meghan coordinates with the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee on business outreach and economic development within the Commonwealth. Prior to joining Senator Kerry�s staff, she worked at a Washington, DC consulting firm after earning her bachelor�s degree from Georgetown University.
Disabilities Advocate
Brendan is originally from Washington, D.C., where he started working
for Senator Kerry as an intern. He has been with Senator Kerry's Boston office
for one year, as a disabilities advocate.
Massachusetts Press Secretary
A native of Connecticut, Brigid O'Rourke serves as Senator Kerry's Massachusetts
Press Secretary. Before starting in the Senator's Boston office, she worked
at CNN for seven years in the network's Atlanta, Georgia headquarters. As a
producer of Inside Politics, she covered the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns
of both parties during both the primary and general election seasons.
Brigid earned her Masters in Political Science from Georgia State University.
She is also a graduate of Ithaca College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts
in Broadcast Journalism.
Academy Coordinator
Mary serves as Academy Coordinator for Senator Kerry. She is responsible
for accepting and processing all correspondence and applications for the United
States Military Academies.
Political Director
Ayanna Pressley is Senator Kerry’s Political Director. She is the liaison
to Massachusetts elected officials and candidates, as well as Democratic party
and committee organizations. Her role also includes coordinating outreach to
local constituencies such as African Americans and women, and representing
the Senator at events and meetings around the state. Prior to joining Senator
Kerry’s campaign staff in 1996, Pressley served as the Social Security
Liaison for Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II. She has been a member of Kerry’s
Senate staff team for over a decade, and has assumed several roles during her
tenure. She previously served as Kerry’s Scheduler in Washington DC,
and as the Massachusetts Constituency Director for his Presidential campaign.
Senior Issues Manager
Carmen handles immigration issues in the Senator's Boston office. She
has worked for Senator Kerry since 1985.
Deputy State Director
As Deputy State Director, Setti is responsible for Business Outreach,
Economic Develpoment, Comunications and overall operations in the Massachusetts
Senate Office. He joined the Senate Staff in November 2004. Previously Setti
served as Senator Kerry's National Trip Director for his Presidential Campaign.
In addition, Setti served in the Clinton administration as a White House Staff
member from 1996 to 2000 where he worked in the office of Cabinet Affairs and
the office of Scheduling and Advance. He was Appointed New England Regional
Director for the Federal Emergency Management Agency by President Clinton from
2000 to 2001. Setti is a native of Newton Massachusetts and is a graduate of
Boston College.
Senior Issues Manager
Veterans, Military and Foreign Affairs
Chris has worked for Senator Kerry since 1993. He attended both Marquette University
and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. He served in the United States
Navy as a Quartermaster aboard the USS Barney, (DDG6) from 1976 to 1978. He
works directly with the Massachusetts National Guard, the Department of Defense,
the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services and all facets of the Department
of Veterans Affairs in Massachusetts.
Western Massachusetts Regional Director
Stephen is the Western Massachusetts Regional Director for the Senator's
State Office. Prior to joining Senator Kerry's staff, Stephen worked in Washington,
DC as a campaign consultant, including work with the Democratic National Committee
during the 2004 election cycle. He is originally from Wilbraham and graduated
from Minnechaug Regional High School and earned his bachelor's degree from
Hartwick College and master's degree from Trinity College.
Local Relations
Janet Lebel oversees the Senator's Fall River Office. She is a graduate
of Bryant College and is in her ninth year serving the needs of Southeastern
Massachusetts' constituents from Fall River, New Bedford, Cape Cod and the
surrounding areas. She assists constituents who have a need to resolve problems
and circumstances. Janet's background is that she retired from the International
Ladies' Garment Workers' Union as Office Manager for Southern New England.
