This treaty formalized the purchase of land in Pennsylvania and cemented an amicable relationship between the Quakers and the Indians for almost a hundred years.  Penn was the last figure on which Brumidi worked.

The Intern Lecture Series is hosted by the Committee on House Administration, U.S. House of Representatives and the Committee on Rules and Administration, U.S. Senate.

  • Monday, June 9th 3 PM, 1310 LHOB:
    Daniel P. Beard, Chief Administrative Officer
    – Dr. Beard is the Chief Administrative Officer for the House of Representatives, directing many of the day-to-day operations of the House of Representatives. Prior to his appointment, he served on the staff of the House Appropriations and Natural Resources Committee and as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for Public Policy at the National Audubon Society. His three decades of experience in policy affairs and management issues also include positions with the Senate, White House, Interior Department and the Library of Congress. Notably, Dr. Beard leads House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s "Green the Capitol" initiative.

  • Tuesday, June 10th, 10 AM, SR- 325:
    Kristine Iverson, Department of Labor
    - Kristine Iverson was nominated by President George W. Bush to be Assistant Secretary of Labor for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs on April 5, 2001, and was confirmed by the Senate the following day. She previously served on Capitol Hill for 24 years with Senator Orrin G. Hatch as Employment Policy Director and Minority Staff Director of the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee.

  • Wednesday, June 11th, 3:45 PM, SD-G11:
    Senator Sherrod Brown
    – Before serving as a Senator, Sherrod Brown was a Democratic Representative from Ohio’s 13th District from 1993 to 2006. Since arriving on Capitol Hill, he has worked to build a bipartisan coalition for a new trade policy to strengthen America's middle class, to provide opportunities for American manufacturing, and to protect workers’ rights, the environment, and product and food safety. Senator Brown sits on the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and the Veterans Committee.

  • Thursday, June 12th, 9:30 AM, 1310 LHOB:
    Representative Virginia Foxx
    - Representative Foxx is a Republican Congresswoman from the 5th Congressional District of North Carolina, first elected in 2004. Dr. Foxx has established herself as a champion of conservative values and helped lead the national movements to enforce immigration laws and increase accountability within the Federal Government. She serves on the House Committees on Agriculture, Government Reform, and Education and the Workforce and was confirmed by the United States Senate for a Presidential appointment to the National Advisory Council for Women's Educational Programs.

  • Friday, June 13th, 10 AM, SR-325:
    Senator Richard Lugar
    – Senator Lugar of Indiana has been serving in the U.S. Senate since 1976, and in 2006, he won his sixth term with 87 percent of the vote, his fourth consecutive victory by a two-thirds majority. He is an unwavering advocate of U.S. leadership in the world, strong national security, free-trade and economic growth. Currently he is serving as the Republican leader of the Foreign Relations Committee and is a member and former chairman of the Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee.
