Location
The U.S. Capitol is located on Capitol Hill at the east end
of the National Mall. Tour bus operators may find it helpful
to view the
Tour Bus Route Map displaying travel routes to the Capitol.
Drivers should use one of these routes when traveling between
the tour drop-off/pickup point on First Street, N.E., and the

Times of Operation
Visitors must tour the Capitol using the Capitol Guide Service.
Tours are given:
Monday- Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m
The last tour is conducted at 4:00 p.m. Guided tours last
between 30 and 45 minutes. The Capitol will be open on all
Federal holidays except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Tickets
Visitors must tour the Capitol using the Capitol Guide Service.
Tours are given free of charge. The public may visit the
Capitol via tour groups consisting of 25 to 40 visitors.
Timed tickets are issued beginning at 9.00 a.m. on a
first-come-first-serve basis, with one ticket issued per
person (please arrive early).
Visitors must obtain free tickets for tours at the Capitol Guide
Service kiosk located along the curving sidewalk southwest of the
Capitol, near the intersection of First Street, SW and Independence
Avenue. Ticketholders will be directed to the South Visitor Receiving
Facility. From there they will proceed to the Capitol to begin their
tour. Until further notice, self-guided tours are prohibited.
