Clyburn Praises Earl W. Stafford for $1 Million Gift
WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement praising Earl W. Stafford, of Fairfax County Virginia, for providing deserving families access to the Inauguration. Stafford is donating a $1 million hotel Inauguration package and is working with the Urban League and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies to bring people to Washington DC, and provide access to the events and festivities surrounding the Inauguration.
“I am extremely touched and inspired by Mr. Stafford’s extraordinary generosity. He is providing worthy Americans the opportunity to have a once in a lifetime experience to be a part of history. His commitment to restoring core American values by caring for the least of these is one that should be emulated. He has demonstrated the true meaning of giving back to the community and bolstered his belief that the Inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama should be ‘The People’s Inauguration.’”
