WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran today announced that Summit has been selected to receive a $100,000 grant to construct a new police station.  The current station currently operates out of one room in the Summit town hall building.

“The Summit Police Department provides an invaluable service to the citizens of their community,” Senator Wicker said.  “This grant will provide the police department with a new facility so they can continue to serve and protect the people of Summit.”

The USDA Rural Development Program aims to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in rural America.  This is done by providing financial and technical assistance to foster growth and new opportunities for business development, home ownership, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
