LATTA SUPPORTS FISA LEGISLATION

Friday June 20, 2008

Washington, DC -- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement after voting for H.R. 6304, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Amendments of 2008.

“H.R. 6304 is a crucial piece of bipartisan legislation that will keep our country safe from those who wish to compromise our freedoms and liberties.  This bill protects our civil liberties and contains important retroactive immunity protection for those companies that kept us safe in a time of distress.  House leadership on both sides of the aisle should be commended for coming to a compromise that puts the security interests of the American public first as this bill was debated this year,” Latta said today after the vote.
