Napolitano to Host Field Hearing Examining Competitiveness Through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

Washington DC - Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano (D-Norwalk) will host an Education and Labor Subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, and Competitiveness hearing on the campus of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona on September 21 entitled “Examining Competitiveness Through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.”  The hearing will explore ways in which science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education can enhance the local workforce and ensure economic competitiveness.

“Every day the global economy pulls more and more jobs out of my district, out of California, and out of our country.  In order for us to remain competitive in the global economy we must increase our science, technology, engineering, and math education capacity on the local level by funding more programs in those fields,” said Napolitano.  “I invited my friends and colleagues on the Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, and Competitiveness Subcommittee to our area in order to hold a field hearing on those issues that will inform and educate our constituents.”
