Hall Finishes 2nd 43 Town Tour with Pound Ridge Library Story Hour
Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Pound Ridge, NY – U.S. Rep. John Hall (D-NY19) concluded his second tour of every town and city in New York's 19th Congressional District today with a story hour and meeting with children and parents at the Pound Ridge Library.

In 2007, Hall attended at least one public event in each of the 43 towns and cities he represents. At the beginning of 2008 Hall pledged to re-launch the tour and visit each of the 43 towns and cities again.

Much of what Congressman Hall heard and learned from communities during his visits resulted in the Congressman being able to directly help local residents. For example, during a visit to the Warwick Senior Center in February on an Orange County stop, Hall heard stories from victims of Medicare fraud. Hall’s Office later in the year organized Medicare Fraud Prevention forums throughout his district to help seniors learn how to fight and prevent Medicare fraud.

In March, Rockland County residents met with Hall during a Congress on Your Corner in Haverstraw. Hall held dozens of Congress on Your Corner meetings throughout the district this year. At these events, Hall and staff members take the services of his office to a local community, so residents can obtain assistance with casework, discuss issues, or get information without having to travel to one of the Congressman's district offices. These initial listening sessions inspired Hall to set up regular satellite office hours the first Wednesday of every month in Rockland, Dutchess, and Westchester counties.

"Going to people's communities to meet face to face with them, hear their concerns, and see what my office can do to help is the very core of being a responsive representative," said Congressman Hall.

Other stops on Hall's Town Tour included the Poughkeepsie Memorial Day Service at the Dutchess County War Memorial and a visit to the Putnam County 4-H Fair in July at the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park, among many others.
