Military Academy Nominations
Each year Senator Dorgan has the opportunity to nominate some of the best and brightest young North Dakotans to attend our nation’s military service academies. Appointment to one of these academies allows young people to serve our country while getting a high–quality, full four year scholarship college education at one of the nation’s premier educational institutions.
Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 23 years old on the date they would enter the academy. The application process for these appointments must be completed by November of the year before the class actually enters the academy.
Acceptance of an appointment commits an applicant to five years of active duty service after graduation as an officer, or in the case of the Merchant Marine Academy, the option of receiving an active duty commission and be required to secure employment in the maritime industry.
