Information on the Presidential Inauguration

The inauguration of a U.S. President is a historic occasion. In January of next year, we will witness the swearing-in of the 44th President of the United States of America.

When is the 2009 presidential inaugural swearing-in ceremony?

The 2009 presidential inauguration is scheduled for January 20, 2009. The inaugural swearing-in ceremony will be held on the west front of the U.S. Capitol building.

Where can I get tickets to the inauguration?

There are a limited number of tickets available from Senators and Representatives of the 110th Congress.  I will continue to update this website with additional information as we receive it from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

When will tickets be distributed?

Tickets for the 2009 inauguration will be distributed in January 2009.

Who is responsible for planning the swearing-in ceremony?

Since 1901, the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies has been responsible for planning the swearing-in ceremonies. You can find additional
information on the inauguration at the committee's website www.inaugural.senate.gov.
