Does the IRS Owe You Money?
For nearly 100 North Dakotans, the answer is “Yes!”
You can click here to see if the IRS has an unclaimed federal income tax refund check waiting for you!
The refund checks wound up in the “unclaimed” file because for some reason, the U.S. Postal Service couldn’t deliver them and returned them to the IRS. Most often, the person moved before the refund check was delivered and there was a problem with the forwarding address. Other times, it’s just that the wrong information was provided, or the information provided was illegible on the tax return itself.
Whatever the reason, if your name is on the list, you can claim your lost refund by calling the IRS directly, toll free, at 1–800–829–1040. Or you can click here to contact Senator Dorgan’s office to request help or ask a question.

Helping North Dakotans cut government red tape or solve problems you might be having with a federal department or agency is an important part of Senator Dorgan’s job. If you think Senator Dorgan might be able to help, please contact his state office nearest you. His office can work together with you and with the agency to review, and hopefully resolve, the matter.

Senator Dorgan is often contacted by North Dakotans whose small businesses, non-profit organizations, colleges, universities or communities are looking for grant funds from the federal government to help support their programs or ideas. Senator Byron Dorgan created the North Dakota Veterans History Project to record and preserve the stories of North Dakota’s war veterans for all time.
