2009 Inauguration Information

NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW TICKET REQUESTS

Information for the 56th Presidential Inauguration
Tuesday, January 20, 2009

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) is responsible for all inaugural events taking place at the U.S. Capitol, which include the swearing in ceremony for the President and Vice-President of the United States of America. Inauguration information is available by visiting their website at http://www.inaugural.senate.gov.

Tickets

Due to a large number of requests received to date, we are no longer accepting new requests for Inaugural tickets. Requests received prior to December 1, 2008 will be considered.

Due to the larger number of requests, please be aware that Congressman Mitchell’s office will be unable to accommodate all ticket requests.

Please read the following carefully regarding the distribution of tickets:

  • Tickets will be distributed through a lottery process to constituents requesting tickets who reside in Arizona’s Fifth District.
  • Tickets are for standing areas only (not seated).
  • No more than two tickets per individual request will be distributed through the lottery process.
  • The lottery will take place in early December. You will be notified of the status of your request at that time.
  • Tickets will not be mailed and will not be available for pick up in the district office.
  • Tickets must be picked up in-person with picture ID verifying your residence in Arizona’s Fifth District on Monday, January 19, 2009 in Congressman Mitchell’s Washington, D.C. office.

If you sent a request prior to December 1, 2008, you will be contacted if we need any additional information.

Our office cannot assist you in making your travel or lodging plans, however we encourage you to make those plans now because of the large number of people that are anticipated to be in the Washington, D.C. area for this historic event.

Our office cannot assist you in obtaining access or tickets to any Inaugural balls, receptions or the parade. These events are being coordinated by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. For more information on the Presidential Inaugural Committee or to contact President-Elect Obama’s Transition Office, please visit www.change.gov.

Please be advised that the weather conditions for the Inauguration Ceremonies historically have been cold and wet. Please be advised attendance will be historic and guests are likely to be standing outside in for at least three hours.

For any additional information, please contact my Washington, D.C. office by sending an email inquiry here.
