Casework Corner - Medicare Confusion

As many of you know, the time to make changes to your Medicare plan has already passed. And the tedious period of cross checking personal medication statistics with prescription plans while considering cost is probably not your idea of a good time anyway. Thankfully, it is something you won’t need to consider again until the end of the year!

This holds true for most Kansans, at least. Unfortunately, I am still hearing from people who have not been able to straighten out their Medicare plans. The most frequent issues I have come across in the last couple of months include direct withdrawal and other payment issues, inaccurate billing and, yes, enrollment problems. I am surprised to hear that enrollment in the proper plan can still be a problem in May but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by much anymore! Most of the problems are a result of poor communication by CMS or the constituent. We can usually step in to act as a liaison for you to help ease the stress of dealing with such a large, bureaucratic organization like CMS.
