There is still time to file!

October 15, 2008, is the final date that filings for the 2008 Stimulus program will be accepted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). We still have informational packets and forms available upon request. Simply call our Topeka office at 785-234-8111 and we will mail a packet to you.

Nearly 130 million households are expected to benefit from the Stimulus program this year. This includes roughly 20 million low-income seniors, veterans and people with disabilities. Because low-income individuals may not normally be required to file tax returns, we are again urging everyone who may potentially qualify, to file at least the simplified form by October 15, 2008.

Any process involving nearly 130 million households is bound to have a few glitches and delays. If you have filed your return on or before April 15th, 2008 and have not received your payment by the date indicated below (be sure to allow 3-5 days additional time for mailing), we may be able to help you get some answers.

First, you must meet the basic Stimulus requirements: earn or receive at least $3,000 last year (not to include SSDI payments) and not be claimed as a dependant on another’s tax filing. Next, you could speak directly with an IRS representative at 1-800-829-1040, or contact our Constituent Services at 785-234-8111 for assistance.

The following is the IRS payment schedule for those who filed returns on or before April 15, 2008. A schedule has not yet been posted for those filing after April 15, 2008.

DIRECT DEPOSIT
Last two SSN digits: Payments will be transmitted no later than (and received by the end of the day of):

PAPER CHECK
