Dave serves as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

He is also the Chairman of the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee, which funds all programs for the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and Labor - including medical research at NIH, student assistance programs, manpower programs, and a variety of childhood development and social services programs.

As Chairman, Dave serves as an Ex-Officio voting member of all 12 Appropriations Subcommittees:
