SALI JOINS 96 OTHERS ASKING SPEAKER PELOSI TO REJECT AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bill Sali has joined 96 other members of Congress in a bipartisan letter asking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to oppose efforts to grant amnesty to an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States.

“We are united in asking you not to bring amnesty legislation to the House floor," the letter urged Pelosi.

“Amnesty does nothing to secure our borders. I fear for the safety of my children, grandchildren and all 300 million Americans who live with the knowledge that there’s a gaping hole in our national security. Our borders will not be secured by granting legal status to illegal immigrants,” Sali said. “Amnesty is brutally unfair to the many millions who entered the United States legally. It trivializes the legal path to citizenship by telling lawbreakers that their efforts are on par with those who stood in line and entered the United States with permission.”

The letter concludes, "The United States has the most generous legal immigration system in the world. We should take the side of American workers and taxpayers, legal immigrants and the rule of law. Please oppose any effort to put illegal immigration on the path to amnesty."
