Sali Article on Amnesty

Washington, May 3 -

U.S. Rep. Brian Bilbray, the chairman of Immigration Reform Caucus, today hailed Congressman Bill Sali as “a key voice” against amnesty and welcomed Sali as the 100th member of the caucus.

“Congressman Sali has been a key voice in the fight against amnesty," Bilbray, a California Republican, said. "From California to Texas to Idaho, illegal immigration is an issue that is affecting everyone in our country. Congressman Sali will be at the forefront of the Immigration Reform Caucus'(IRC) efforts to prevent policies from moving forward that will result in the legalization of more than 12 million illegal immigrants.

“As the public policy debate concerning illegal immigration moves ahead, Congressman Sali will continue to play an integral role in the IRC as a champion of the working-class Americans who have become the backbone of our country,” Bilbray said.

“Amnesty is no solution to the immigration problems facing our country,” Sali said. “Amnesty won’t magically secure our borders, boost our national security or fix our broken immigrant worker program,” Sali said. “We need real reforms to our immigration system. We need a program that our agriculture industry can depend on to hire legal workers. And we need our federal agencies to enforce the immigration laws that are on the books. I’m honored to join like-minded members of Congress to come up with answers that reflect the needs and desires of my constituents and our nation.”
