WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement as part of the centennial celebration commemorating former President Lyndon B. Johnson's 100th birthday.
“On the 100th birthday of former President Lyndon B. Johnson we commemorate the life and times of a dynamic leader who worked tirelessly to help those in need.
“As an ardent proponent of civil rights, a strong public health system, and children’s issues, President Johnson had the courage and foresight to champion the advancement of causes that have moved our country in a new and more promising direction.
“President Johnson will be remembered by generations of politicians, historians, scholars and Americans as one of our nation’s most tenured, successful, and capable public officials. His unconditional zeal for wanting to help the poor, assist the disadvantaged, and uplift the downtrodden will also cement his legacy as one of our nation’s most compassionate and caring public servants.” |
