WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement to commemorate the upcoming Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday.
“As preparations get underway to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it is important that we all take a minute this holiday weekend to applaud the many outstanding achievements of this great American.

“Our country has progressed tremendously over the last several decades because of the courageous sacrifices made by Dr. King. His actions motivated America’s leading politicians to enact laws that enhanced our civil rights protections and ensured that every citizen was given a fair and free right to vote.
