Ticket Requests

The deadline to request inauguration tickets was Monday, December 8th at Noon CST. Ticket requests can no longer be made.

A random lottery will be conducted for inauguration tickets. The tickets are only for the Inauguration, not for the parade or inaugural balls. All tickets to President-elect Barack Obama’s Inauguration are provided free of charge.

If you do receive a ticket

Under the rules established by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, tickets cannot be mailed. You must pick up your tickets from my Washington, DC office in person on one of the days listed below.

Friday, January 16, 9 am to 5 pm EST
Monday, January 19, 9 am to 1 pm EST

*Tickets not picked up during these hours will be forfeited.*

You must bring an ID and show it to my staff when you collect your tickets.

If you do not receive a ticket

The area west of 4th St. on the National Mall will be available for those who do not have a ticket. The non-ticket area begins approximately a half-mile away from the inauguration platform and, currently, there are no guarantees of large viewing screens or speakers.

Large crowds are expected and we recommend you arrive as early as possible on the morning of January 20, 2009.
