WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Rep. George Miller (D-CA), the Chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, issued the following statement today after 43 Republican Senators prevented the Senate from voting to increase the national minimum wage:
"Two weeks ago, with an overwhelming bipartisan majority, the House of Representatives voted to increase the national minimum wage for the first time in nearly ten years. Yet because of the misguided actions of 43 Republican senators, millions of minimum wage workers across the country are going to have to wait even longer for the pay increase that they desperately need and deserve. This outrage proves how out of touch many Republican leaders are with the everyday economic realities faced by millions of American families."
