Cherry Blossoms around the Jefferson Memorial

Cherry Blossom Festival
The National Cherry Blossom Festival annually commemorates the 1912 gift to the city of Washington of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo. The festival takes place over a two-week period, March 27 to April 11, in the spring with parades, public performances and street fairs.

The tours have been an annual tradition since 1972 when Pat Nixon first opened the gardens to the public.
