New Inauguration Update

No inauguration tickets have yet been received, but we expect to receive very few tickets for the thousands of requests we continue to get, even after we were compelled to stop accepting requests.  However, I have written to every member of Congress asking that home-town D.C. residents get any tickets that members may not be using, particularly since some Americans would have to travel a great distance.  Nevertheless, because of the historic nature of this inauguration, and the small number of tickets available to each member, many from across the country are likely to take advantage of the small number of tickets allotted to members of Congress.  I am also seeking more tickets from the Presidential Inauguration Committee although it is just being formed. I am so concerned about the crowds that will come even without tickets that I also am meeting with officials about off-mall sites that can give the same swearing-in experience to the majority of Americans who will not have tickets or be able to find room to stand on at the mall.

Please stay in touch on this site.  We will let you know of any further developments as we are informed.
