Republican Whip Roy Blunt

House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) today issued the following statement after House Democrats held a press conference in Denver, Colo., announcing yet another energy plan attempting to hide their failure on this important issue:

“The plan Democrats unveiled today is just another attempt by their leadership to hide the fact that they have spent decades advocated the policies that put us on a path to $4 a gallon gasoline. Americans, however, have not forgotten that Democrats promised a common-sense solution, but have done little more than nip around the edges of our nation’s energy crisis while making big promises and delivering little results.

“Republicans have a real plan that says yes to alternatives, yes to more American production and yes to more conservation. The only thing Democrats have said yes to when it comes to energy is $4 gasoline that drills right into your wallet.”

NOTE: House Republicans introduced a comprehensive energy plan called the American Energy Act (H.R. 6566) that promotes the use of more alterative and renewable fuels, and expanding drilling on remote lands and far off American shores in an environmentally-safe way. The Democrats’ response was to adjourn Congress for a five-week recess without allowing a vote on legislation to give relief to American businesses, farmers and families.
