Local Congresswoman wants long term plan to care for Veterans

March 7, 2007

Glens Falls, NY- On Saturday, March 10th, at 1:30pm at the Hyde Collection Museum in Glens Falls, New York, Congresswoman Gillibrand will be hosting her third town hall forum since taking office in January. The forums have been generating large crowds of families and local residents throughout the 20th Congressional District.

The topic of the March town hall forum will be health care. There will be a panel of health care experts, including Representatives from the Governor’s office who will discuss ways to ensure children and families receive health care insurance and that elderly citizens can gain access to helpful health care programs. In addition, Congresswoman Gillibrand has arranged for representatives from the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA) to attend the event and help enroll local residents who qualify, in prescription drug programs that may help reduce their drug costs. The PPA is a national effort helping the uninsured and underinsured access their prescription medications.

Prior to her election Congresswoman Gillibrand promised to hold one town hall meeting a month, open to the public and the media. The Congresswoman has continued to honor this pledge with previous forums in Saratoga and Dutchess counties.

All members of the public and press are invited to attend and participate in the discussion. Congresswoman Gillibrand believes that accountability and accessibility to the families of the Twentieth District is very important to being an effective Representative, and is committed to both
