Saratoga Springs, NY – On August 6th, Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand will host a Grants Workshop in Saratoga Springs in order to help local elected, business and non-profit leaders attain the tools they need in order to apply for and win Federal and State grants.
“One of my highest priorities in Congress is to increase economic development opportunities for local residents, and to help our region obtain vital federal investments in order to create good paying jobs and grow local businesses,” said Congresswoman Gillibrand. “My office is always available to assist our towns and counties with federal grant applications, and I look forward to helping local organizations apply and build a successful grant application.”
Twenty-six Federal agencies offer over 1,000 grant programs in various categories. In order to cut through the bureaucratic red tape, Congresswoman Gillibrand is hosting this workshop in order to help local leaders navigate through this time-consuming. Since January of 2007, Gillibrand’s office has announced nearly $40 million in grants and earmarks for this region’s funding priorities, which can often defray infrastructure costs and allow for a reduction in local taxes.
The event will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in Saratoga Springs at Skidmore College’s Gannett Auditorium. Gillibrand has invited representatives from Federal and State agencies to provide information on how to seek and apply for grants. The following information will be covered:
· Searching for grants
· State and Federal agency programs
· Community and Private Foundations
· Building a successful application
· Q & A session with grant experts
The event is free, and registration will begin at 8:15 am. Anyone interested should RSVP to Pat Friesen at 518-581-8247.
In her first term, Congresswoman Gillibrand has focused on increasing federal granting in our community and publishes a regular listing of available Grant Opportunities. For more information, please visit the Grants Central section of her website at www.gillibrand.house.gov
