Hudson, NY – Today, local Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand announced that the Town of Catskill, located in Greene County, was awarded $1,581,000 in a low interest loan for the replacement of antiquated water infrastructure.  The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Funds will be used for pipe replacement to improve water flow and pressure for more than 1,600 local residents in Sewer District #3.

“This vital funding will help improve services for more than 1,600 local residents in Catskill,” said Congresswoman Gillibrand, a Member of the House Armed Services Committee.  “Aging infrastructure is one of the most critical issues facing our communities in Upstate New York.  These improvements are critical for the economic development of our region.”

The USDA Rural Development Program provides grants and loans for rural communities nationwide.  USDA Rural Development funds are targeted for development of vital water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities and electric and telephone service as well as economic development initiatives.
