Glens Falls, NY – Today, local Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand announced that the Johnsburg Emergency Squad, located in North Creek in Warren County, was awarded $20,350.  The Community Facility Grant was awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Program

“Our emergency response organizations are critical to the safety and security of our communities,” said Congresswoman Gillibrand, a Member of the House Armed Services Committee.  “These important federal funds will purchase critical lifesaving equipment.”

Joseph Connelly, Chairman of the Johnsburg Emergency Squad said, “We are a small rural village, deep in the Adirondack Park, a community which thrives on its ability to care for itself, neighbor looking after neighbor. What we've been missing is the medical and communication equipment to make our care the best. This grant gives us that chance. Thank you.“

The USDA Rural Development Program provides grants and loans for rural communities nationwide.  USDA Rural Development funds are targeted for development of vital water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities, electric and telephone services, as well as economic development initiatives.
