Saratoga Springs, NY – Today, local Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand announced that she will hold a tele(phone) town hall meeting on Monday, April 14th at 5:30pm. After traveling through the ten counties holding public meetings and events, the Congresswoman will reach out to her constituents, live, via new technology that allows thousands of local residents to participate at once. The forum will be set up similar to a talk radio format which will allow callers to ask their questions directly to their Congresswoman. The topic of the forum will be open ended but may focus on the Economy, Iraq, Taxes, Agriculture, and the local concerns of people throughout the 20th Congressional District.
“This is a great way for folks to let their Congresswoman know what they care about and think Congress should be doing, without ever having to leave their home,” said Gillibrand, founder of the bipartisan Congressional High-Tech Caucus. “I believe accountability and accessibility to the communities I serve is very important to being an effective Representative and I am committed to both.”
The Congresswoman, a member of the House Agricultural and Armed Services committees, will be on hand to discuss the Farm Bill, General Petraeus’ testimony on Iraq and other recent legislative action in Washington, DC.
In just her first term, Congresswoman Gillibrand has repeatedly held town hall meetings and Congress At Your Corner stops throughout the area she represents. The tele-town hall forum is just another tool in the Congresswoman’s constituent outreach program.
The Congresswoman encourages local residents to call in and ask questions on the important issues that affect our community. Folks interested in participating should call the Congresswoman’s Saratoga or Delhi office at 518-581-8247 or 607-746-8449 for more information.
