Hudson, NY - Local Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand
(NY-20) will be the keynote speaker at the formal dedication of the new
Fireman's Home in Hudson, NY on Sunday, September 16th. The Firemen's
Home is the only nursing home in New York State devoted to caring for
volunteer firefighters.
At the event Congresswoman Gillibrand will announce that she plans
to co-sponsor a $1,000 a year tax credit for active duty fire fighters
in the near future.
Joining the Congresswoman will be
James W. Wright, President of the Firemen's Home, members of the
Firemen's Home Board of Trustees, State and Local Officials, and
Volunteer Firefighters from across New York State who were
instrumental in creating a new statewide retirement facility for New
York's Volunteer Firefighters. This new ultra-modern facility will
replace the old building, built at the turn of the 20th Century.
Members of the community are encouraged to join in afternoon activities
which will include a parade from 12-1.
The
Congresswoman will be partaking in the afternoon events and speaking
briefly on the important legacy of our Volunteer Firefighters and first
responders.

The
new Firemen's Home is a 126,000 square foot facility designed with the
members' of the FASNY Community's comfort in mind. The new home offers
all of the service and amenities for retired and active volunteer
firefighters, men and women who share the camaraderie of socializing
with fellow firefighters, and continued connections to firefighting
activities. The state-of-the-art facility was also designed for
members requiring care for a wide variety of medical and
rehabilitative conditions, including Alzheimer's/dementia care.
The
facility includes large, private resident rooms, a high-tech physical
therapy rehab gym, and an indoor therapy swimming pool. The new
building also includes a magnificent domed chapel, library, private
dining room, commissary and barber shop/beauty parlor, as well as a
large multi-purpose auditorium for resident activities and special
events.
