Gillibrand Announces $1.6 Million for Critical Hudson Falls Water Project | Print |

July 27, 2007

Glens Falls, NY - Today, Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand (Greenport-NY) announced a $1,600,000 loan from the United States Department of Agriculture for the construction of critical water infrastructure in the Village of Hudson Falls. New York State Director for USDA Rural Development, Patrick H. Brennan said, "The new water line will improve water quality and service for more than 6,000 residents." The existing 8" cast iron water line is more than 50 years old. The project will include 10,725 feet of linear feet of main line, and new hydrants, valves and connections to the properties along the route.

Congresswoman Gillibrand, who recently supported the Interior and Environmental Protection Agency Appropriations bill that funds critical water infrastructure programs said, "This funding is central to the health and well-being of the residents of Hudson Falls." Hudson Falls Mayor David J. Carter agreed, "This water project is essential to the Village because we can put in place larger capacity water lines to better serve the future needs of our community… I would like to thank the USDA and Congresswoman Gillibrand for their commitment to the Village of Hudson Falls."
