Saratoga Springs – Today, local Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand encouraged all New York households to check to see if they are owed a stimulus payment or a tax refund.  In New York, over 19,000 economic stimulus payments totaling $11 million and over 8,500 tax refunds totaling $9 million have been returned to the IRS due to mailing address errors.

Important Update: Inauguration Tickets

Information on attending the Inauguration of the 44th President

Due to the high volume of requests that our office has received and the limited number of tickets available, we are longer able to accept new requests for tickets to view the Presidential Inaugural Ceremony from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.  If you have already requested a ticket, we will contact you in December regarding the status of that request.  If you would like information on how to view the ceremony from the National Mall, or other Inaugural events in Washington, DC that are free and open to the public, please contact 202-225-5614 or visit the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies’ website at inaugural.senate.gov

 

 
Gillibrand Calls to End the "Child Support Tax"

Saratoga Springs, NY- At a recent Congress At Your Corner meeting in Queensbury, NY, local Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand was approached by several single mothers in despair after being taxed on their child support payments. After researching the issue, Congresswoman Gillibrand discovered that in 2005, Congress passed legislation requiring the states to charge an annual $25 fee for child support payments collected by the Child Support Enforcement program.  As the mothers Congresswoman Gillibrand spoke with pointed out, $25 is a week’s worth of lunches for their sons and daughters.

Gillibrand Urges Seniors and Veterans to Claim their Stimulus Check

Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand is encouraging senior and veteran families to file the necessary paperwork in order to receive their economic stimulus payment.  Households have until October 15th to fill out a tax return; over 5.2 million households, including 439,000 New York households, have not claimed their rebate check.
