Meet Congressman Brad Ellsworth | Print |

Brad Ellsworth has spent an entire career protecting the lives of the people of southwest Indiana. Now as the 8th District's Congressman, Brad continues his career-long commitment to put Hoosiers first.

As a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition, Brad is working to reduce waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars in Washington. He currently sits on the Armed Services, Agriculture, and Small Business Committees.

In 1982, Brad began his 24-year career in the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's office. He was twice decorated for heroism in the line of duty and graduated from the FBI National Academy.

In 1998, Brad was elected Vanderburgh County Sheriff, where he completed two terms. During his tenure as Sheriff, Brad started Indiana's most comprehensive website to track and monitor sexual offenders. He also served as President of the Indiana Sheriff's Association.

Brad was born in Huntingburg, Indiana, but lived nearly all of his life in Evansville where his father worked in the Warrick County Alcoa plant. He attended University of Southern Indiana where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, and Indiana State University where he received a Master's Degree in Criminology.

Brad and his wife, Beth, reside in Evansville. Together they have a daughter, Andrea. The family attends St. Agnes Catholic Church.
