2007, before the Committee on Energy and Commerce that the Republican
membership of the standing subcommittees of the Committee for the 110th
Congress be changed as reflected in the list above. The Vacancy
is due to the resignation of the Honorable J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL)
from the Congress. The vacancy became effective on November 27, 2007.**Membership
changes are based on a Resolution offered by Rep. Shimkus on March 13,
2008, before the Committee on Energy and Commerce that the Republican
membership of the standing subcommittees of the Committee for the 110th
Congress be changed as reflected in the list above. These changes
filled the vacancy described in the above footnote.
Jurisdiction of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection - 110th Congress
(1) Interstate and foreign commerce, including all trade matters within the jurisdiction of the full committee;
(2) Regulation of commercial practices (the FTC), including sports-related matters;
(3) Consumer affairs and consumer protection, including privacy matters
generally; consumer product safety (the CPSC); and product liability;
and motor vehicle safety; and,
(4) Regulation of travel, tourism, and time.
