Congresswoman Hirono Announces $2.38 Million in Federal Funding for Hilo International Airport
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawai`i) today announced a $2,383,615 U.S. Department of Transportation grant for improvements to Hilo International Airport on the Big Island of Hawai`i.
According to Hawai`i State Department of Transportation’s Airports Division administrators, about 90 percent of the federal funding will be used to upgrade the airport terminal’s air conditioning system. The remaining funds will go toward the construction of a new airport ramp, as well as a taxiway at the Hilo International Airport.
